Hegyestű or Hegyes-tű is a mountain in the Balatonfelvidéki (Balaton Uplands), on the eastern edge of the Káli-medence (basin), between Monoszló and Zánka, in the Balatonfelvidéki (Balaton Uplands) National Park. Its altitude is 337 m or 338 m above sea level. Due to earlier basalt mining, it lost its original cone shape, but due to raw material extraction, the internal structure of the mountain was revealed, and the basalt trapped in the former volcanic vent became visible, and during its cooling it solidified into columns. At the top of the hill, archaeologists found pots from the Árpád period and a roughly circular ring of walls. On the hill you can find karst bush forests typical of the Balatonfelvidéki (Balaton Uplands) with characteristic cherry ivy, while on the side facing Lake Balaton you can see oak forests, vineyards and cellars without cherries. The possibilities are limitless here too, many opportunities await even in the vicinity of Hegyestű.Have fun!
